re:VAULT is looking forward to these two not-to-be-missed sessions on funding and distribution

FROM MYTH TO MONEY: “Short film funding may seem like the pot at the end of the rainbow, but it’s out there – we promise! Our panel of six of the UK’s leading short film commissioners, programmers and funding scheme reps are going to tell you where to find it. In this session you’ll get tips on how to pitch your ideas and what commissioners are looking out for. So they say money talks; learn how to make it say “hello, I want to fund your short film”!

SHORT SELLING: “You’ve made your short, it screened at festivals, you’re proud as punch, now what? Sales! In this session we invite key players in digital distribution to talk online sales. What’s VOD? Will you retain the film rights? Will your film make money? Who will offer the biggest audience? All questions answered here”

Also we would like to say a huge well done to William Oldroyd whose short film ‘Best’ won the 2013 Short film Competition

As part of Sundance London this year there was a short film competition to make a 3-5 minute film around the concept of time, very appropriate given the festival is held at the place of Greenwich meantime. The theme was ‘The Time is Now; a story that is about being immediate and in the moment.’

What the judges had to say:

“The other jurors and I were delighted to find in Best a succinct yet moving story that so cleverly exemplifies the tagline ‘The Time is Now.’ Terrifically framed images as well as stellar performances bring to life a story that impressively manages to be tender, raw, visceral and heartbreaking in under five minutes.” – Trevor Groth, Sundance Film Festival Director of Programming and jury member.
